Faded Old Black and White Photos
Even if your old black and white photo is faded
to almost nothing, there is a great deal that we can do to bring
out lost detail; by using a variety of methods to manipulate the
tones in a photo editing program (histograms, gamut, channels
for example).
Note: Wherever possible, we prefer to work from the original
photo so that we can create the best possible scan. A quality
scan is key to making a quality final print. However we will work
with what you have, if that is a poor scan then we will work from
there.
If the photo is also badly stained and
scratched, this is going to be profoundly more visible in the
copy when the tones have been enhanced; a light brown spot may
become a very black spot, a photo
restoration may then be called for. You will get a specific
price quoted before we start, it's free, no obligation.
Restoring Faded Color Photos
Often older color photos and snapshots, from the 60's and 70's,
have faded to greenish or purpleish or orange tones, depending
on how they have been stored. We strengthen the tones, then select
each item in the photo individually to recreate the correct or
appropriate color and then make a new print. The print can be
made any size you would like.
